Lyft Cash Guide: Prepaid Balance & Auto-Refill
Lyft Cash is money you park inside the Lyft app ahead of time. It pays for car rides, bike rentals, and scooter trips, which makes budgeting easier: set funds aside once instead of approving a card charge on every ride.
How to Add Funds
- Open the Payment tab in the Lyft app menu.
- Pick the add-funds option for Lyft Cash.
- Choose $25, $50, or $100 and confirm.
Turn on auto-refill to have the app top the balance up on its own whenever it sinks below $15. You can switch auto-refill off or change its amount and payment method in the same Payment settings at any time.
Expiry, Transfers, and Withdrawals
Cash you buy outright never expires. Promotional Cash handed out through rewards can expire instead, with the date always attached to the offer. Balances stay in your account: they cannot transfer to another rider and cannot come back out as cash.
Lyft Cash Plus Discounts
Prepaid money and price cuts combine freely. Lyft Cash covers the fare while promo codes, referral credits, and gift card balances lower it. Rides funded by an employer run on different rails; see the Lyft Pass guide. Tips and any amount above the balance fall to the backup card on file.
